Parrilla Libre El Fogón, Gualeguaychú, Entre Rios, Argentina, August 19, 2018
On my birthday, I spent the whole day with my best travel companion, my car. I drove from Gualeguaychú to Montevideo, about 350 kilometers or 6 hours. It might just be the tradition of my family, but we do not have a strong culture of celebrating birthdays. So I did not feel particularly lonely being alone. But as a farewell to Argentina, and as a reminder that things are quite expensive in Uruguay, I had the last substantial meal of meat in Gualeguaychú. The Argentinian Parrilla,...
Location update – Buenos Aires – Argentina, Aug 14, 2018
In Buenos Aires. 48,000km driven so far. The first chapter of the big trip is close to the end. @Buenos Aires – Argentina, Aug 14, 2018
with Nahuel @Rosario, Santa Fe, Argentina, August 10, 2018
I had the pleasure to meet this guy again in Rosario. I met Nahuel for the first time in Panama City back in February. I was glad to catch up with him in his home country, Argentina, and almost in his hometown, Rosario, while getting to meet his sister and aunt as well. When I first met him, he had already traveled for 4 years (or longer I recall). I believe my mode of traveling is different from his; however, I admire his strong adaptability and...
Viviana – Roberto @Punta del diablo, Uruguay, August 1, 2018
The first people that I met in Uruguay were actually a couple from Argentina but I couldn’t tell the difference in accents. They’ve been living in Uruguay for years. As much as they love traveling themselves, they have a son who is a world traveler. He’s traveling abroad now and he is almost my age, so, in a way, I felt like a son of them. And it was great to hear about the perspectives of the parents who have a son like myself. Thanks for...
Mercado del Puerto, Montevideo, Uruguay, August 4, 2018
I stayed in Montevideo just for one day, knowing that I’ll come back soon and stay for 10 days then. So I really didn’t do much in the capital city, but I dropped by the Mercado del Puerto (port market) before heading towards Colonia del Sacramento. In fact, Mercado del Puerto seemed to be the most popular destination among tourists, especially these days due to the cold outside. Even though it’s called Port Market, it turned out to be an indoor space of restaurants. Specifically, the...
Gradual changes @Gualeguaychú, Argentina, August 6, 2018
I came back to Argentina. Two months ago, I was in Northern Argentina, but I was mostly driving to get to Paraguay. So I came back to get to see the country better – this huge country seemed to deserve it. I’ll travel Argentina for as much as possible before I conclude the South American leg of the travel in Montevideo at the end of this month. In the morning, my destination for the day was Rosario, but by the time I left the Uruguayan/Argentinian customs,...
la mano, punta del este, Uruguay, August 2, 2018
Uruguay is much smaller than its neighboring countries. And it’s sweet to be reminded that I can get to almost anywhere in the country within a couple hours of driving. And the roads are, to quote wikitravel, boringly straight and flat. I’ll have to spend more time in Uruguay at the end of this month when I ship my vehicle to Europe. So for now, I’m mostly “passing by” the country at a comfortable speed. But I stopped by “punta del este” to see the sculpture...
A Brief interview in Gaspar, Brazil
I had the pleasure to briefly share about my travel with a radio station in Gaspar, Brazil! Aside from the initial nervousness, it was a fun experience and it made my new friends and the community more special in my heart. @July 26, 2018, Gaspar, Santa Catarina, Brazil
