Truck-buses, @palenque, Mexico, February 3, 2018
While driving from Palenque to Ocosingo, I think I climbed a couple mountains. It was a narrow two lane road with occasional serious potholes. After driving a month in Mexico, I am now skilled in dodging potholes while being mindful of traffic nearby. I saw many truck-buses in the mountainous area and they sometimes drive as fast as I do, and I wonder how the passengers manage all the exaggerated shocks and shakes! @palenque, Mexico, February 3, 2018

They say Teotihuacán, or the city of Gods, is thought to has been established 100 BC – 250 AD. There are two pyramids : one of the sun another of the moon. Both are quite steep to climb and thought to have served different purposes. Without a doubt, it was very scenic and refreshing to hike in the area, although it was unfortunate to think about all the people who must have suffered and died during the construction. @Teotihuacán, Mexico,February 1 2018

This relatively small town was on the very first page of lonely planet Mexico, as one of the top recommendations in the country. Unfortunately it has been very cold since I came here. I hear it’s being unusually cold in Mexico city as well, so I assume it’s affecting the whole central region. With triple shirts and double pants, I set out to walk around the Centro. It seems to be a historically important pretty small town, where there live a lot of retired American people....

A week in Leon was just another example of serendipity, which seems to happen so effortlessly when traveling. The original plan of staying one day ended up being a week in the city, thanks to the new friends. This was my 6th day in Leon while walking around the public garden in front of the Teatro Bicentenario, where I could happen to watch the annual festival of the city across the street. The rides and rollercoasters looked much more interesting than those in the Universal Studios...

The sun was setting and the road was narrow with lots of local traffic. The navigation was showing me endless curvy roads to the top of the hill, to get to the hostel that I booked. Originally I was not going to stop by the city of Leon but I needed some urgent auto diagnostics. The employees at this repair shop were so kind that it was like being with a family. I was invited to their casual lunch on the front desk for two days in a row. The picture was from the first day.
