Impressions of the Finnish way of living @Helsinki, Finland, September 5

Helsinki, the capital of Finland, was the first stop in Europe. Among other things, the short daylight in Scandinavia convinced me to visit the region at least by the beginning of September and then gradually make my way to the south of Europe. 6 hours of time difference between Uruguay and Finland was not too stressful but it was not something to dismiss easily either. It took me days to regain strength, and then I began to realize there were some particular conditions of the...

Candombe, Sound of Uruguay @ Montevideo, Uruguay, August 26, 2018

Despite the high prices, I liked Uruguay. I liked the composed nature of people and the small size of the country made me want to be more attentive to its unique stories. But I realized that a lot of things were something that I already became familiar with in either Argentina or Paraguay – tango, asado, milanesa, to name a few. goodbye to the car @Puerto Montevideo, Uruguay, August 21, 2018

A couple of days ago, I said goodbye to my car … for now!   I shipped the car in a large container along with the vehicles of fellow world travelers at the port in Montevideo, Uruguay. When I planned it, it was not going to end in the last destination in South America...

César and friends, buenos Aires, Argentina, Aug 18, 2018

Buenos Aires was my last major destination in the Americas. By giving up on other smaller regions of interest, I could manage to spend a week in Buenos Aires. Aside from the light sickness for the first couple days, there were logistical things to get done to migrate from South America to Europe for both my car and myself. At the same time, I wanted to take some time think about what all this means – why did I start this? What have I been doing?...

Parrilla Libre El Fogón, Gualeguaychú, Entre Rios, Argentina, August 19, 2018

On my birthday, I spent the whole day with my best travel companion, my car. I drove from Gualeguaychú to Montevideo, about 350 kilometers or 6 hours. It might just be the tradition of my family, but we do not have a strong culture of celebrating birthdays. So I did not feel particularly lonely being alone. But as a farewell to Argentina, and as a reminder that things are quite expensive in Uruguay, I had the last substantial meal of meat in Gualeguaychú. The Argentinian Parrilla,...
