Last moment in Jordan
Finally the moment to leave Jordan has arrived. I’m taking an overnight ferry from Aqaba, Jordan to Nuweiba, Egypt.
As usual, I overstayed in this country, by a couple of days. It was because I met some good people whom I wanted to know better, there was unexpected rain, and I liked the city Aqaba more than I had expected.
Many regard Jordan as an attractive travel destination, because the infrastructure for tourism is well established, it is safe and the country offers fascinating history as well as breathtaking desert landscape. I too experienced its charm but I also had to confront a hard moment with a local person, which actually offered me a great opportunity to know about me better. And this has made the country more special to me. (I plan to share this experience in the future)
To get to Egypt, there’s only one ferry time each day, and I have to land on the Egyptian side at around 2am, if the arrival Visa is issued without a problem. With no Uber like service there, I imagine myself having to come to an agreement with one of the taxi drivers surrounding me at the port. The unfamiliarity and the uncertainty make me nervous, but I believe that the process is the key, not the destination itself. Just like any experience, what your experience makes you feel and think about should be closer to the essence of traveling. Still, I hope I check in at my hotel smoothly tonight!
