Impressions of Cyprus

The lake provides an easy hike, or a walk to be more precise, along the peaceful lake. You can watch flamingos hanging out in the lake, but when I was there they were too far from the hiking trail.

Before coming to Cyprus, I was wondering whether the island had enough ‘historical things’ to keep me interested, because the island seemed a widely known destination for vacationers thanks to the weather. Much to my surprise, this island is full of histories often dating back to as old as 7,000 B.C.! Often an archaeological site is the result of the overwriting of more than 5 civilizations in one place. And I feel clueless about where to start to appreciate the site.

With a mere one week or so, I need to be selective about where to explore on the island.

In addition to histories, this country has scenic nature too. I am just grateful to see green areas at this time of the year in the first place.

Larnaca has been my ‘base camp’ in Cyprus. It might be a master of none, but it’s a jack of all trades for sure. It’s only lightly crowded (only around the city center that is) and it has history, good food, nice beaches, and an international vibe. It’s relatively close to other other major cities on the island too.
