Another rainy day in Beirut. Due to the unusually heavy rain, it has become very inconvenient to walk on the street, instead of driving.

One thing I learned about the country is that it is highly mountainous. And you can see lots of apartment buildings in the mountains. Driving can be tiring but it is rewarded by scenic views.

To get to Baalbek from Beirut, we drove across Lebanon Mountains and the snow-capped mountains were overlooking us most of the time. In fact, the name Lebanon supposedly comes from the Phoenician word meaning ‘white’, referring to white mountain peaks.
Some roads were very narrow and curvy, so I didn’t dare to stop the car to take a picture with a proper camera. The above was taken through the windshield with an old iPhone.

Construction workers were taking a casual break against an unusually cool view of the coastal line of Jounieh. It was the first day after weeks of the rainy weather, so people were welcoming the sunlight outside. Although the two guys were my subject of the photo, when they realized me they stepped aside to allow me an ‘unobstructed’ view of the sea.
